Kate & Anna McGarrigle – A Life in Folk (short film)

Written by Dave Hill and Deirdre Dolan (shot by NYC filmmaker Dave Hill) it stars Martha Wainwright as Kate, Rufus as Anna and Lily Lanken as the matriarch Gaby (+briefly as her bro Sylvan.) This is one of the silliest things I’ve ever seen. It was made by them as a tribute to their mothers who’d received a Gov Gen award and shown at the 2005 Governor General Awards Gala at the NAC in Ottawa, Canada. It really livened up what was in danger of becoming a pretty deadly affair, Mrs. Clarkson’s Chinese-fan style dress notwithstanding.
