Roving Gambler

Posted in Uncategorized by ruthanzo on October 2, 2008

The U.S. is like a desperate gambler going around trying to get a game going. Reminds me of when I was on the West coast of Ireland of few years back during the Galway Races. The Irish like their betting games. Horses, dogs, cards..The hotel I was at had a sign on the door discouraging any would-be betters from trying to gain access to the bar to get ‘something going.’

That ‘respectable’ old gambler Warren Buffett* was on Charlie Rose last night ‘trying to get something going.’ His ante is $6 billion and he’s inviting everyone to the game. The Federal Reserve is giving the banks some of the 700 billion to play while the U.S. taxpayers will be getting the mortgages on shoddily-built stripped down Baltic Ave properties and told to be patient. They won’t be reaping their rewards just yet.

* Has anyone ever owned any of his Berkshire Hathaway mutual funds? They’re not really mutual. He wins, you lose. I know someone who held some for years and they decreased in value when everything else was going up..this guy is a bullshit artist.
