pain is the staff of life

I was half-watching the PBS special Live from Lincoln Centre and I’m sorry to say it was pretty boring, well-played but boring. Some Gershwin and other stuff. I used to like Oscar Levant playing the Concerto in F but that was in the 60s. Times they have-a-changed.. Anyway these were not very interesting arrangements. And then Wynton Marsalis was there and OMG he cooked. Martha S. should have him on. Was that his arrangement, recipe?

Anna’s Wyntour seems to be all the Vogue. Oscar Levant added some class to that ol’ fraud Jolson when we used to listen back in the 40’s. Gershwin considered OL his best interpreter. By the by OL’s
autobio was called, I believe, Memoirs of an Amnesiac.
So much to learn so little kenneth tynan
